The increased presence of police patrol units on inland waterways is part of a broader inter-agency effort to:
- Enhance navigational safety in border regions,
- Prevent illegal border crossings,
- Combat cross-border criminal activities.
Officers are conducting routine identification and vessel checks. All boat operators and waterway users are reminded to carry valid personal identification (passport or national ID), vessel registration documents, and appropriate boating licenses. Inspections also cover safety compliance, including onboard rescue equipment and operator sobriety.
In the coming weeks, increased police patrol activity is expected across the border-adjacent sections of the Odra River and its navigation channels.
The Szczecin Waterborne Police emphasize that cooperation with law enforcement and adherence to regulations are essential for ensuring safety on transboundary waterways.
