BOKA Falcon commences works on the Baltica 2 offshore wind farm

A new stage of seabed preparation has begun for the Baltica 2 offshore wind project, jointly developed by PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna and Ørsted. The BOKA Falcon, operated by marine engineering company Boskalis, has entered Polish waters to carry out specialized subsea works.

The vessel is equipped with two advanced ploughs: T-Rex and Megalodon. The T-Rex will remove dozens of massive boulders located within the planned wind farm area, while the Megalodon will excavate a precision trench for the installation of subsea power cables.

These operations are essential to prepare the seabed for the planned installation, by 2026, of approximately 300 km of export cables and 170 km of inter-array cables. Once completed, Baltica 2 will feature 107 wind turbines with a total capacity of 1.5 GW.

The offshore wind farm will generate clean electricity equivalent to the consumption of around 2.5 million households, playing a pivotal role in Poland’s energy transition and strengthening the country’s energy security.
