101st Mission of "Heart Action": Naval Aviators Once Again Fly to Save Lives

On Sunday, June 15, 2025, an An-28TD transport aircraft crew from the 43rd Naval Aviation Base completed yet another critical medical flight under the nationwide transplant coordination effort known as "Akcja Serce" ("Heart Action"). This marks the 101st such operation in the unit’s history, and notably, the second carried out over the same weekend.

The medical transport flight was conducted on the route Gdynia – Warsaw – Gdynia, in support of the University Clinical Center in Warsaw. It was also the 7th such mission completed in 2025 by the Naval Aviation Brigade headquartered in Gdynia, part of the Polish Navy (Marynarka Wojenna RP).

Naval aviation crews from Gdynia have been performing organ transport missions since 2007, playing a vital role in Poland’s organ transplant system. Missions like this rely on the capabilities of An-28TD aircraft, which provide reliable and rapid airlift under tight operational timelines—often dictated by the narrow transplant viability window.

While designed for transport and maritime patrol, aircraft of the Naval Aviation Brigade are regularly deployed in humanitarian roles, supporting national healthcare institutions and ensuring time-critical delivery of life-saving organs.
