Third Pohjanmaa-class corvette enters production at Rauma Marine Constructions

Finnish shipbuilder Rauma Marine Constructions (RMC) has officially commenced production of the third Pohjanmaa-class multi-role corvette, marking another milestone in the Laivue 2020 programme, Finland’s flagship naval modernization initiative.

The first vessel of the class was launched in May 2025 and is currently in the outfitting phase, while the second corvette entered production in late 2024 and is undergoing hull assembly. With the start of the third ship’s construction, three out of four vessels are now actively in progress. According to the current schedule, the Pohjanmaa-class corvettes will be delivered between 2027 and 2029, with the entire programme completed by the end of the decade.

Designed to operate in the demanding and often icy conditions of the Baltic Sea, the Pohjanmaa-class corvettes are intended to serve as the backbone of the Finnish Navy for decades to come.
