At approximately 20:05 local time, the West Pomeranian WOPR (Water Volunteer Rescue Service) received an emergency request from lifeguards stationed at descent no. 10 in Mielno. In response, WOPR dispatched Intervention Group GI Z-08, deploying an IRB (Inflatable Rescue Boat) and a drone-equipped rescue specialist to assist in the search and rescue operation.
During launch preparations, one of the missing individuals was located and retrieved by lifeguards on site. The victim was immediately handed over to the State Medical Rescue Service (ZRM) for advanced resuscitation efforts.
Despite the swift response and coordinated actions of all emergency units involved—including lifeguards, WOPR specialists, and medical responders—one of the three casualties could not be revived.
This tragic event underscores the unpredictable nature of Baltic coastal waters and the crucial importance of observing all safety warnings. WOPR strongly urges swimmers and beachgoers to use only designated bathing areas during lifeguarded hours and to remain vigilant when entering open water.
