Gdańsk’s T5 Installation Terminal Secured for Ocean Winds’ BC-Wind Project

Ocean Winds has signed a reservation agreement with Elektrownia Wiatrowa Baltica-2 – a joint venture of PGE and Ørsted – enabling access to the T5 installation terminal in the Port of Gdańsk for the BC-Wind offshore wind farm project.

The T5 terminal, currently under development on over 21 hectares of port land, will be one of the most advanced offshore wind installation facilities in Europe. It will first serve the Baltica 2 project in 2027, before being used by Ocean Winds for the BC-Wind project in 2028, following the planned sublease agreements.

– T5 is set to become a strategic asset in Poland’s offshore wind landscape, remarked Dariusz Marzec, CEO of PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna. – This reservation agreement marks another milestone in the Baltic offshore sector’s development. High demand for access to T5 reflects not only the project's importance but also PGE’s leadership in the energy transition. The terminal will anchor offshore operations for at least the next 10–15 years and support the regional supply chain across the Pomeranian region.

Ulrik Lange, Vice President & Managing Director of Baltica 2 at Ørsted, added:

– Opening the terminal to a subsequent project after Baltica 2 is completed reflects best practices from mature offshore wind markets. It ensures optimal resource use and reinforces Poland’s position as a key energy transition player in the region.

From Ocean Winds’ perspective, the Gdańsk terminal meets all necessary technical and logistical requirements.

– Choosing Polish ports was a strategic decision, noted Kacper Kostrzewa, Managing Director Poland at Ocean Winds. – T5 offers the capabilities we need to implement BC-Wind efficiently. More importantly, this choice strengthens local content and supports the growth of Poland’s offshore industry capabilities.

The shared use of T5 by multiple developers exemplifies a coordinated approach to offshore infrastructure, aligning with EU and global strategies for efficient port asset utilization. The agreement is expected to accelerate offshore wind deployment in the Baltic Sea and further position Gdańsk as a regional hub for clean energy logistics.
