Successor to Dar Młodzieży coming closer. Project presentation on 10 October at the Maritime Economy Forum

On 10 October, during the Maritime Economy Forum in Gdynia, the official presentation of the new training tall ship design will take place. The vessel is intended to succeed the legendary S/V Dar Młodzieży, which has been in service for over 40 years.

The construction of the new tall ship is estimated at around PLN 300 million and forms part of a broader government programme worth nearly PLN 1 billion, dedicated to strengthening maritime education through the commissioning of two new vessels – for the Gdynia Maritime University and the Maritime University of Szczecin.

According to Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Arkadiusz Marchewka, the initiative is of strategic importance for the development of Poland’s maritime workforce and for maintaining the country’s international standing in seafaring.

Designed by renowned naval architect Zygmunt Choreń, Dar Młodzieży has served as both an ambassador of Poland at sea and a training platform for thousands of cadets since her launch in 1981. Her successor will continue this mission, combining the tradition of sail training ships with modern technological solutions.

The project presentation will be a highlight of this year’s Forum and a milestone event for the entire maritime economy sector.
