Remontowa Shipbuilding to build seven modern electric ferries for Scottish operator CMAL
Remontowa Shipbuilding S.A. has signed a prestigious contract to build seven electric ferries for Caledonian Maritime Assets Limited (CMAL) – a Scottish operator managing island transport. This is one of the largest orders for electric ferries in Europe, confirming the growing role of the Polish shipbuilding industry in the modern and environmentally friendly vessel sector.

Remontowa Shipbuilding wins electric ferry contract
Remontowa Shipbuilding triumphed in a competitive tender, which included six renowned shipyards from various countries. The offer achieved the highest score in the evaluation of technical and financial criteria, confirming high competencies and an innovative approach to shipbuilding.
The ordered ferries will be equipped with modern electric propulsion, significantly reducing CO2 emissions and contributing to sustainable maritime transport. These new vessels will operate routes between Scotland's picturesque islands, including the Hebrides archipelago.
When will the electric ferries arrive in Scottish waters?
The first ferry is scheduled for delivery in 2027, with the remaining vessels to follow progressively. Moreover, CMAL plans to announce a tender this year for three additional vessels in the second phase of the project, in which Remontowa Shipbuilding also intends to participate.
