Development of the Police Seaport – strategic agreement for investment growth

The Police Seaport, operated by Grupa Azoty Police, represents a key asset that the company aims to fully leverage, particularly in the ongoing efforts to restore its financial stability. The company has ambitious plans for the development of port areas, which provide an ideal environment for industrial and manufacturing activities due to their well-established technical infrastructure. This initiative is expected to create hundreds of new jobs in Police.

Currently, work is underway on the construction of a railway junction as part of the new railway line No. 437 leading to the Police Seaport. Last year, the project secured over €33 million in EU funding. The connection to both national and international rail networks will significantly enhance the port’s cargo handling capacity and establish its intermodal capabilities, emphasized Andrzej Dawidowski, CEO of Grupa Azoty Police and Vice President of Grupa Azoty S.A.

A key industrial hub in the West Pomeranian region

According to Olgierd Geblewicz, Marshal of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, Zakłady Chemiczne Police has long been a significant economic player in the region and one of its largest employers.

"Grupa Azoty’s financial situation has been challenging due to past management decisions, but the current leadership is making visible progress. I commend them for their effectiveness and welcome the renewed collaboration with the regional government. Diversifying industrial activities is essential, as global economic and chemical industry trends evolve. Sectors such as offshore energy and green raw materials are gaining prominence. With the Police Seaport as a foundation, we aim to create a unique economic hub. For several months, we have been working to support the development of a logistics and industrial park around Police. Key infrastructure projects, such as the railway siding and the Western Bypass of Szczecin, will improve connectivity, linking this area with the industrial park in Goleniów. Our Regional Investment Center (CIG), which has been facilitating investment in Western Pomerania for 20 years, will actively attract investors to Police. The conditions for investment are highly favorable."stated Marshal Olgierd Geblewicz.

Strengthening regional competitiveness

Shivan Fate, Mayor of Police County, sees the signed agreement as an opportunity for regional development:

"Joint efforts to develop the Police Seaport will attract investors and create new jobs. Infrastructure investments will make our region more competitive, benefiting both the local economy and residents. The County Office of Police is proud to participate in this initiative."

Police Mayor Krystian Kowalewski also highlighted the investment potential:

"Thanks to these infrastructure projects in our municipality and Szczecin, Police is becoming an increasingly attractive location for investment. Key partners are eager to invest here, which will positively impact our labor market and economic outlook. New capital and investment will enhance the financial stability of both the municipality and its residents."

Infrastructure projects to support economic growth

Grupa Azoty has also announced parallel investments, including tenders for the construction of the Western Bypass of Szczecin, which will significantly improve transportation efficiency. Additionally, the company is advocating for the development of the Szczecin Railway Bypass, which would reroute hazardous material transport away from urban areas in Police and Szczecin.

The agreement aims to boost the economic potential and investment attractiveness of Police Municipality, positioning it as a business-friendly location while enhancing regional labor market competitiveness. The expected financial benefits include increased revenues from port operations, leasing agreements, port services, and local fees. The port’s expansion will accommodate businesses in the chemical, fuel, steel construction, offshore, renewable energy (RES), and logistics sectors, generating new employment opportunities.

Investment opportunities in Grupa Azoty Police

Grupa Azoty Zakłady Chemiczne "Police" S.A. offers industrial, manufacturing, and service-oriented investment opportunities.

"Our competitive advantage lies in our strategic location with access to port infrastructure. The expansion of the Police Seaport, the development of railway infrastructure, and the construction of the Western Bypass of Szczecin—improving regional connectivity with Szczecin, Police, Goleniów, and the Szczecin-Goleniów Airport—create optimal conditions for investment and business growth."emphasizes the company.
