Polish Naval Academy commissions new officers aboard museum destroyer ORP Błyskawica

Graduates of the Polish Naval Academy (Akademia Marynarki Wojennej) named after the Heroes of Westerplatte were commissioned to the first officer rank on Saturday, 27 June, during a ceremony held aboard the museum destroyer ORP Błyskawica in Gdynia. Deputy Defence Minister Stanisław Wziątek attended the event.

During the ceremony, the cadets took their officer's oath and received their commissions. The event was attended by representatives of state and local authorities, the Academy's staff, commanding officers, families and invited guests.

- Becoming an officer is one of the most important moments in a soldier's life. It is the moment when you take on responsibility for the security of the homeland, for your subordinates and for the soldiers you will command, said Deputy Minister Wziątek. - I am confident that you will serve the Republic of Poland with dignity, guided by honour, professionalism and the ethos of a Polish Armed Forces officer.

He wished the newly commissioned officers success in their service and satisfaction in carrying out their duties for Poland's security.
