PGE Baltica, a company belonging to the PGE Group, has signed a contract with Korporacja Budowlana DORACO for the construction of an operations and maintenance (O&M) base in Ustka. This modern facility will serve as a key hub for servicing offshore wind farms in the Baltic Sea. Construction work is scheduled to commence in the spring of this year.

- Signing the contract with the contractor for the operations and maintenance base is another milestone in our offshore wind energy development plans for the Baltic Sea. The port in Ustka is the heart of the entire energy production management system for offshore wind, without which farms like Baltica 2 could not operate efficiently. For this investment, we have engaged the renowned Polish construction company DORACO, which has extensive experience in hydrotechnical projects. This is another entity from the Pomeranian region participating in the construction of the O&M base, ensuring that our Ustka project is completed with 100% domestic contractors, said Dariusz Marzec, President of the Management Board of PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna.
- Our extensive experience in hydrotechnical projects will be utilized in this strategic investment, which supports the development of Poland's offshore industry. We are honored to contribute to the country’s energy transition by applying our expertise in hydrotechnical construction. Collaboration with PGE Baltica also provides an opportunity to involve numerous Polish subcontractors, which is an important element of our strategy. We are excited to begin the construction of the Ustka base, confident that we are laying the groundwork for the further development of offshore wind energy in the Baltic Sea. What was just a project yesterday is now beginning to take engineering form. We look forward to future investments that will utilize local content to such a significant extent, setting an example worth following in the market, said Radosław Jarosiewicz, Vice President of the Management Board of Korporacja Budowlana DORACO.
The general contractor will be responsible for preparing comprehensive project documentation and constructing new facilities in the western part of Ustka’s port. Their scope of work also includes obtaining all necessary occupancy permits.
The operations and maintenance base (O&M), developed by PGE Baltica in Ustka, will cover an area of over 2.3 hectares at the site of the former "Korab" fish processing plant. It will consist of an administrative and social building, a warehouse, a maneuvering yard, and a quay where specialized, fast service vessels (crew transfer vessels – CTVs) will dock to transport crews to offshore wind farms. The plan also includes an internal parking area. Surrounding the base, green spaces totaling approximately 5,500 square meters will be created.
PGE Baltica has already obtained a valid building permit for the O&M base. Construction is set to begin in spring 2024, with completion expected in Q4 2026. The first offshore wind farm to be serviced from the Ustka base will be Baltica 2, which PGE is developing in partnership with Danish company Ørsted. The farm is scheduled to be operational in 2027. In addition to its future service function, the Ustka base will serve as a logistical hub during the construction phase of the wind farm, facilitating the deployment of personnel supporting the project from Ustka.
