Lithuanian Navy in international exercise Northern Coasts 2025
The Lithuanian Navy’s patrol vessel P11 Žemaitis is currently taking part in the multinational exercise “Northern Coasts 2025”, organized by the German Navy (Deutsche Marine). The drills are part of the maritime component of the “Quadriga” training cycle, designed to ensure the safe transit of German forces to the Baltic States.

As part of the exercise, a large-scale transit operation was conducted from Rostock to Klaipėda, involving the transfer of around 300 military vehicles and several thousand Bundeswehr troops. Their security in the Baltic Sea was safeguarded by warships from Lithuania, Germany, Sweden and Denmark.
Patrol vessel Žemaitis played a particularly significant role – not only by providing convoy protection but also by engaging in specialized tasks, including air and surface defense drills, boarding team training, and NATO exercises focused on the protection of critical underwater infrastructure against hybrid threats.
Supporting the transit mission, the Lithuanian Navy’s minehunter M54 Kuršis also contributed to mine countermeasure and escort operations.
“Northern Coasts 2025” represents one of NATO’s key maritime training events this year, underlining the Alliance’s capability to conduct coordinated defense operations and ensure security across the Baltic Sea region.
