In a fascinating glimpse into the political leanings of Poland’s maritime workforce, preliminary presidential election results from offshore voting commissions show Rafał Trzaskowski taking a clear lead, followed by a strong showing from Sławomir Mentzen. Voting was conducted aboard the tall ship STS Fryderyk Chopin (Commission 1000), as well as the Baltic Beta (1001), Petrobaltic (1002), Petro Giant (1003), and Petro Monitor (1004) platforms.

Out of 171 total votes:

  • Rafał Trzaskowski secured 65 votes (38.01%)
  • Sławomir Mentzen followed with 36 votes (21.05%)
  • Szymon Hołownia came third with 16 votes (9.36%)

Surprisingly strong performances were recorded by Grzegorz Braun and Karol Nawrocki, each garnering 15 votes (8.77%). Left-wing candidates Magdalena Biejat and Adrian Zandberg followed, each with 7 votes (4.09%).

Other candidates received limited support:

  • Artur Bartoszewicz – 3 votes (1.75%)
  • Joanna Senyszyn, Krzysztof Stanowski, Marek Woch – 2 votes each (1.17%)
  • Marek Jakubiak – 1 vote (0.58%)
  • Maciej Maciak – no votes

While the maritime vote represents a small fraction of the national electorate, it reflects the political voice of those working in demanding offshore conditions. Participation, though lower than on land, underscores a strong civic commitment across the sector.

Global trends: Rafał Trzaskowski leads in Russia, Karol Nawrocki in the U.S.

Exit polls for the general election place Rafał Trzaskowski narrowly ahead nationwide with 30.8%, followed closely by Karol Nawrocki at 29.1%. Sławomir Mentzen holds third with 15.4%. Other candidates, including Braun, Zandberg, and Hołownia, followed in single digits.

In overseas voting:

  • Russia favored Trzaskowski (36.13%), Mentzen (20.17%), and Nawrocki (16.81%)
  • USA leaned heavily toward Nawrocki (42.3%), with Trzaskowski (29.98%) and Braun (12.35%) trailing

With just 325,759 votes separating Trzaskowski and Nawrocki, the stage is set for a fiercely competitive runoff in the second round.
