Milestone achieved at Sofia offshore wind farm - Van Oord completes foundation installation
Dutch engineering company Van Oord has successfully completed the installation of all monopile foundations at the Sofia Offshore Wind Farm. This critical phase was carried out using the specialized offshore installation vessel Aeolus, operating at Dogger Bank in the central North Sea.

The 1.4 GW Sofia Offshore Wind Farm, scheduled to become operational in 2026, will supply clean renewable energy to approximately 1.2 million UK households. As one of the largest offshore wind projects in Europe, Sofia demonstrates the rapid growth of large-scale renewable infrastructure in the North Sea region.
In addition to foundation installation, Van Oord is also progressing with the installation and burial of over 360 kilometers of array cables, connecting turbines to offshore substations.
