France clinch youth match racing worlds in Gdynia. Poland secure promising 5th place

Led by Marin Micoulot, the French crew — Camille Pfaff, Aristide Delin and Clarisse Baissa — delivered a dominant performance, winning 12 of 15 preliminary races (80%) and remaining undefeated through the knockout stages. Final races were cancelled due to insufficient wind, so semifinal results determined final positions.

Strong Polish debut campaign

Representing the host nation, the Polish team skippered by ILCA 7 Olympian Michał Krasodomski—on his first match‑racing helm—finished a solid fifth. Together with Joanna Cymerman, Marcel Montrymowicz and Filip Miłoszewski, they recorded 10 wins in 15 round‑robin races (67%). After elimination by the top‑seeded American crew led by Justin Callahan (0–3), the Poles rebounded with wins over Great Britain’s Benjamin Tylecote and France’s Victorien Eon to secure fifth overall, the best possible finish post‑quarterfinals.

- This was our first time racing together in this format, and my first experience as skipper, Krasodomski commented. - We trained only a few days beforehand, so we’re very proud. With more match racing experience, we could certainly aim for the podium.

Elite field, global talent

Sixteen youth teams from around the world competed—in crews under 23, with mixed-gender crews and a total weight limit of 350 kg. Represented nations included Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Sweden, Italy, Canada, USA, France, Great Britain, Slovakia and Poland. Each skipper was nominated by their national federation in cooperation with World Sailing

Gdynia closes out a strong sailing season

This championship wrapped up the 2025 Gdynia Sailing Days, a major fixture on the Central European sailing calendar. During the festival, regattas were also held in classes including Finn, 505, Hobie Cat 16, Preste 18, Flying Dutchman and A-Class, reinforcing Gdynia’s status as Poland’s sailing capital
