Kołobrzeg Maritime City Days 2025 - a three-day celebration of seafaring heritage, culture and community
The President of Kołobrzeg, Anna Mieczkowska, invites residents, tourists and maritime partners to join the Kołobrzeg City Days 2025, a three-day cultural and historical event celebrating the city’s maritime identity. Opening with maritime harmony
The festivities will launch on Friday, May 23, with a concert by the Maritime University of Szczecin Choir, conducted by Sylwia Fabiańczyk-Makuch. The ensemble will perform symphonic renditions of global rock hits like Radio Gaga, Bohemian Rhapsody, and Livin’ on a Prayer. The evening will conclude with a dynamic performance by Ełmi & Tom J Band at Adebar Culture Lab, located near the historic town hall.
Heritage, sailing and seaside recreation
On Saturday, May 24, the spotlight turns to Kołobrzeg’s historical and maritime roots. The 21st Historical Salt Market, with costumed reenactors, will take place at the medieval Lontowa Tower. Throughout the city, cultural and recreational activities are scheduled – including open-air painting, yoga sessions, youth concerts, and family workshops.
A major highlight will be the official launch of the sailing season at the yacht port, featuring a demonstration by students from the Bolesław Chrobry Primary School No. 1. The day continues with the symbolic sounding of the city bugle call, followed by an official opening address by the mayor and a community parade to the passenger port.
There, guests can enjoy the "Healthy & bike-friendly" sports and leisure picnic, organized in cooperation with local NGOs and uniformed services.
International cooperation will also be celebrated with a maritime performance by a sea shanty choir from Kołobrzeg’s twin town, Bad Oldesloe (Germany). The evening will close with a concert by Małgorzata Ostrowska, one of Poland’s most iconic rock vocalists.
Culture, reflection and international flavors
On Sunday, May 25, the program shifts to a more reflective tone with a holy mass in the city’s intention and a family theatre performance (Szałaputki by TeatRyle).
Additional events extend the celebrations into the following week:
- May 26 – Presidential operetta concert for Mother’s Day at the Regional Culture Centre, followed by a concert by Italian singer Dave Nilaya in the Minor Basilica.
- May 28 – 2nd festival of short theatre forms: “Polish tales & fables.”
- May 23–25 and May 30 – June 1 – A literary program titled "On the rural trail: Reymont and the peasant reality", hosted by the Kołobrzeg Public Library.
The event is co-organized by the City of Kołobrzeg, the Zbigniew Herbert Regional Culture Centre, the City Library, and the Municipal Sports & Recreation Centre, with strong support from the Polish Maritime and River League, the Kołobrzeg Seaport Authority, schools, kindergartens and local NGOs.
