The offshore substation (OSS), to be built by CRIST Offshore at the shipyard in Gdynia, is currently in the design phase. It will be equipped with all essential electrical devices required for the project and will weigh approximately 2,000 tons. The completion of the OSS construction is planned for mid-2027, providing employment for over 400 specialists.

- Signing this agreement is a significant step confirming the competence and readiness of CRIST Offshore to carry out projects in the demanding offshore wind energy market. It is also an important moment for the entire Polish offshore wind energy sector, which is increasingly asserting its presence on the international stage. Cooperation on this project demonstrates that Polish companies can effectively compete with global leaders and play a key role in the development of renewable energy sources, said Dan Finch, Country Manager for Poland at Ocean Winds.

The conclusion of the agreement marks a milestone in building an independent renewable energy sector in Poland, boosting national industrial potential and providing a strong stimulus for the economy and employment in the offshore sector. The offshore substation will be built at the shipyard in Gdynia by a Polish company, not only strengthening the local supply chain but also contributing to the development of domestic offshore capabilities and creating new jobs in the Polish shipbuilding and energy industries.

- Collaboration with Ocean Winds is the culmination of our consistent efforts, which we have been undertaking for over a decade, producing structures for the offshore market. Today, we are ready to implement such a project from start to finish. It is proof that we have acquired the appropriate competencies and know-how, enabling us to carry out comprehensive activities - from the design phase to the delivery of the finished product. We are proud to set a new standard in the offshore wind sector, contributing to the development of local content and, thus, the Polish economy and the country’s energy transformation, said Bogusz Pniewski, a member of the management board of CRIST Offshore.

Offshore substations play a key role in the infrastructure of offshore wind farms. These substations receive energy generated by turbines at sea, where it is converted and transmitted to land. As part of the project, the energy generated by the turbines will be transported via an internal cable network to the station in the Baltic Sea and then exported via a submarine cable to the onshore station in the Choczewo municipality.

BC-Wind is an offshore wind farm project located approximately 23 km north of the shore, at the height of the Krokowa and Choczewo municipalities in the Pomeranian Voivodeship. The project aims to achieve a planned capacity of 390 MW, with a total farm area of 90.94 km², which will provide electricity to around 488,000 households annually.

Ocean Winds (OW) is an international offshore wind energy company established as a joint venture between EDP Renewables and ENGIE. The company develops, finances, constructs, and operates offshore wind farm projects worldwide, being a leader in the global energy transition. Since its establishment in 2019, OW has significantly expanded its portfolio, currently encompassing nearly 19 GW of gross capacity.

CRIST Offshore is part of the CRIST Group, a leading shipyard on the European market. CRIST Offshore is one of the leaders in the offshore sector in Poland.
