Construction of PGE Baltica’s service base in Ustka enters next phase

The construction of PGE Baltica’s operations and maintenance (O&M) base in Ustka is progressing according to schedule. The most demanding preparatory works are nearing completion, and new infrastructure elements are now visible alongside the reconstructed quay. The investment is being delivered by the Polish contractor DORACO Construction Corporation.

Located on the site of the former “Korab” fish processing plant, the Ustka base will be the first facility of its kind within the PGE Group, providing 24/7 supervision of offshore wind turbines in the Baltic Sea. It will serve as the operational heart of the Baltica 2 offshore wind farm – a joint project between PGE and Ørsted. Commissioning of the new port facilities is planned for Q4 2026.

- The O&M base in Ustka will transform the port into a modern hub dedicated to offshore wind support services. Local businesses from Ustka and across Pomerania stand to benefit, providing services essential for the daily operation of the base, says Bartosz Fedurek, CEO of PGE Baltica. - From the very beginning, this project has been entrusted exclusively to Polish companies.

Progress on site

The demolition of the old quay has been completed, with the first foundation structures for the new quay already in place. Ground improvement works, including piling, are nearing completion. A tower crane has been installed to support further construction activities. Concrete foundations and reinforcement works are underway, with regular deliveries of steel arriving on site. In September, the first structural concrete is scheduled to be poured for the warehouse and office buildings.

Parallel works include sanitary and stormwater drainage systems, with electrical installations and power supply systems due to follow. Specialist works with micropiles are also planned for the quay structure.

State-of-the-art O&M hub

The Ustka base will cover more than 2.3 hectares and include:

an administration and welfare building,
a warehouse facility,
a maneuvering yard,
a dedicated quay for crew transfer vessels (CTVs) serving offshore wind farms in the Baltic.

In addition to its long-term O&M function, the base will act as a logistics hub during the construction of Baltica 2. From Ustka, service crews will depart to support one of Poland’s largest offshore wind developments.
