Missing Woman Case Near Wierzchucino Ends Safely - SAR and Local Units Respond Swiftly
On Sunday afternoon, a full-scale emergency response was launched after a woman failed to return from a swim in the Baltic Sea near Wierzchucino. With a strong probability of drowning, the Maritime Search and Rescue Service (MSPiR SAR) immediately deployed a shore rescue unit from Władysławowo (BSR) alongside the local OSP Wierzchucino volunteer fire brigade.

Sebastian Kluska, Director of MSPiR SAR, issued the following statement:
– We activated our emergency procedures without delay. Given the circumstances and the time elapsed since the woman was last seen in the water, it was essential to begin search operations immediately. Our coastal response teams, in coordination with local rescue services, acted swiftly in what was a dynamic and potentially high-risk situation.
Fortunately, after several hours of search and uncertainty, the woman was located safe and unharmed. As it turned out, she had simply gone for a walk along the shoreline without notifying anyone.
– This incident, though resolved positively, underscores how quickly a peaceful situation can escalate into a potential maritime emergency. We urge all beachgoers to exercise caution, avoid venturing alone without informing someone, and always respect the power of the sea, Sebastian Kluska added.
With the summer season in full swing and increasing activity on the Baltic coast, MSPiR SAR reminds the public of essential water safety rules and encourages the use of the free mobile app “Ratunek”, which provides direct access to maritime and emergency rescue services in case of danger.
