Seabed preparation advances for the Baltica 2 offshore wind farm
Off the Polish coast, seabed preparation works for the Baltica 2 offshore wind project are progressing into a new operational phase. The development, delivered jointly by PGE and Ørsted, is one of the most significant offshore wind investments currently underway in the Baltic Sea.

Following the completion of boulder relocation along turbine foundation sites and the designated cable corridor, contractors have moved on to the next critical stage: excavating and profiling seabed trenches that will host the project’s export cables. These cables will transmit the electricity generated offshore to the onshore grid connection point.
The works are being executed by the specialist vessel BOKA Falcon, operated by Boskalis. The unit is equipped for precision seabed intervention, allowing for controlled trench formation that meets stringent offshore engineering and cable-laying requirements.
With 107 turbines and a planned installed capacity of 1.5 GW, Baltica 2 will be a cornerstone asset in Poland’s offshore wind build-out. Once operational, the project will be capable of supplying electricity equivalent to the annual consumption of roughly 2.5 million households, marking a substantial step toward strengthening national energy security and decarbonizing the Polish power system.
Seabed preparation represents a foundational milestone preceding cable installation and subsequent offshore construction activities. The project continues to progress in line with the established schedule, reinforcing Baltica 2’s role as a flagship development in the region’s energy transition.
