The BC-Wind financing represents one of the largest transactions of its kind for renewable energy projects in Poland and marks one of the country’s first non-recourse project finance deals for offshore wind. The transaction structure included multi-lateral financing, support from export credit agencies, and a broad syndicate of commercial banks, creating a diversified and risk-resilient capital structure.

Approximately €2 billion in long-term project finance debt was raised for BC-Wind. The financing was provided by the European Investment Bank and Spain’s Instituto de Crédito Oficial, along with a consortium of 13 international and domestic financial institutions, including leading Polish banks and global infrastructure finance leaders. The participation of both domestic and international institutions reflects strong confidence in Poland’s regulatory framework for offshore wind and the long-term stability of contracted revenues.

Daan Van Hoyweghen, Chief Financial Officer at Ocean Winds, commented:

- We are proud that the BC-Wind project financing has been recognized by IJGlobal as a market-impactful transaction. The diverse group of lenders – comprising multilateral financial institutions, export credit agencies, as well as international and local commercial banks – demonstrates that offshore wind in Poland has reached full investment-grade maturity as an infrastructure asset class. This transaction sets a benchmark for financing future offshore wind projects in the region.
