New combat boat operators strengthen MOSG’s maritime response capabilities

Over 2,000 nautical miles – equivalent to nearly 3,900 kilometers – this is the distance covered at sea by officers from the Maritime Border Guard Unit (MOSG) during a specialized Combat Boat Operator course organized by the Special Forces Training Center (CSWS). Two operators from the MOSG’s Combat Boat Section, part of the Operations Support Division, completed the demanding training in early July with top marks.

The course was conducted under the supervision of elite instructors from Poland’s special forces units – GROM and FORMOZA – alongside the CSWS. The training focused on planning maritime tactical operations, advanced navigation, tactical and marine communications, and safe boat handling in diverse weather conditions, both during the day and night, including the use of night vision equipment.

A crucial part of the course involved operational drills in the vicinity of offshore drilling platforms in the Baltic Sea – key elements of Poland’s critical maritime infrastructure. The officers practiced cooperation with platform crews during boat hoisting procedures onto the helideck. Additional exercises were conducted near major seaports along Poland’s coastline, simulating real-world operational scenarios.

Participants also received training in emergency response procedures, inter-agency cooperation, and tactical first aid, building resilience and readiness for high-stress maritime interventions.

The course culminated in theoretical and practical exams, both passed with excellent results. One officer was distinguished for outstanding performance, earning one of the highest overall scores and ranking third among all participants.

The maritime distance covered during the training exceeds the overland route from Gdańsk to Gibraltar – a clear demonstration of the scale, intensity, and strategic importance of this specialized program.
