From Łężyce to the Baltic: Polish family-owned company supplies water systems for Miecznik frigates
The Miecznik multi-role frigate programme continues to serve as a cornerstone of Poland’s naval modernisation, involving a broad network of international and domestic suppliers. While key systems are defined by the Arrowhead 140 baseline design, areas left to shipyard discretion are increasingly being allocated to Polish industry.

A notable example is the cooperation between PGZ Stocznia Wojenna and DOE Sp. z o.o., a Gdynia-based family-owned company operating since 1992, with production facilities located in Łężyce. DOE specialises in advanced water management systems for the maritime, offshore, and industrial sectors.
Under three separate contracts, DOE is delivering a comprehensive package of onboard water systems. This includes reverse osmosis desalination units (DOE Pelican) with a combined capacity of 2 × 25 m³/day, as well as technical and demineralised water production systems (DOE Strok and DOE Shark), integrated with hydrophore units.
The scope also covers automated chlorination systems (DOE Mosquito and DOE Nemo), hydrophore tanks, electric domestic water heaters (DOE Seal, 2 × 200 litres), and a wide range of marine tanks – including those for AVCAT aviation fuel, lubricating oils, and wastewater. The package is complemented by a non-pressurised waste tank equipped with internal flushing and level monitoring systems.
- Arrowhead 140 imposes a number of predefined technical solutions. However, in areas such as water management, sanitary installations, and onboard tanks, we retain real flexibility. We are deliberately using that flexibility to engage Polish suppliers and engineering expertise - said Marcin Ryngwelski, President of the Management Board at PGZ Stocznia Wojenna.
The cooperation with DOE aligns with broader efforts to strengthen the domestic defence industrial base under initiatives such as “Local Content. Benefiting Poland”, aimed at maximising the participation of Polish companies in strategic defence programmes.
