First stop beyond Warsaw: immersive Art Box gallery opens at Reda Aquapark

The Aquapark in Reda is no longer only a water park. On Monday 13 July it opened Art Box, an immersive gallery that took over 767 square metres at launch and welcomed its first visitors into the world of the dinosaurs. It is the first site where the Warsaw brand Art Box has established a presence outside the capital and its founders make no secret of treating Reda as the starting point for a wider network.

Projections that respond to the visitor

The new venue differs fundamentally from a conventional gallery. Instead of pictures hung on walls, visitors are surrounded by projections that fill the entire space, with the imagery shifting in response to how guests behave. For the summer season the room has been given over to dinosaurs and, more broadly, to palaeontology and the history of the discipline itself. The exhibition is layered with soundscapes that carry visitors hundreds of millions of years back in time, interactive stations, VR headsets and spots designed for photographs. As Andrzej Jaworski, president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Izba Gospodarczo-Handlowa), noted at the opening, the show has been designed so that everyone - from a three-year-old to a senior - can enjoy their visit.

A brand betting on becoming a network

The official opening of Art Box – Aquapark Trójmiasto Reda drew both the people behind the project and representatives of local business and government. Among them was Paweł Sikora, founder of the original Art Box in Warsaw, who acknowledged that from the outset he had hoped to turn the brand into a network and that the Reda venue is the first tangible proof of it. For the regional business community, the signal is that the concept has moved from a single Warsaw address towards a replicable format.

From unused floor space to a finished gallery in six months

The gallery was conceived by Aleksandra Pałczyńska, who was herself inspired by the Warsaw Art Box. She has said that although her own taste runs to art in its traditional form, after her first visit to the capital's venue she became a regular, returning for every new exhibition. The spark was the unused space she spotted at the Reda Aquapark. Work began around the turn of November and December 2025, and the project was finalised in July in a little over six months.

After the dinosaurs, Chopin and an eye on the events market

The dinosaurs will not stay in Reda for good. In the autumn they will give way to Romantic Chopin, an exhibition devoted to the composer, with further shows planned around The Nutcracker and original productions on Pomerania and Kashubia. Pałczyńska has stressed that it is precisely these rotating exhibitions that are meant to be the heart of the place.

The space, however, has been designed to do more than host exhibitions. Its sound system, lighting and generous floor area are intended to support conferences, congresses and concerts, as well as private celebrations and corporate events. Equipped with high-quality projectors and audio, the venue can display whatever content its operators choose a space, as they put it, where imagination is very nearly the only limit.

A new draw on Pomerania's tourism map

For the team behind Art Box, the key measure of success will be interest not only from local residents but from visitors across Poland. Pałczyńska hopes that Pomerania's appeal will help draw both tourists and companies looking for a venue to Reda. The regional dimension was underlined by Mieczysław Struk, marshal of the Pomorskie Voivodeship, who was among the first to tour the gallery.

He observed that regional development is usually discussed in terms of railways, roads and infrastructure, whereas a place of this kind answers an equally important need of contemporary families; reaching for modern technology, he added, opens up fresh educational opportunities for Pomerania. For an Aquapark that has been operating since 2016 and steadily broadening its offer, it is another step towards a year-round leisure destination in which water is no longer the only draw.
