Acoustic therapy booth donated by PGZ Stocznia Wojenna to support young patients in Gdynia

PGZ Stocznia Wojenna has donated an acoustic therapy booth to the Day Unit for Child and Youth Psychiatric Rehabilitation in Gdynia, supporting a fundraising initiative coordinated by the Foundation for Supporting Children and Families.

The booth will provide a controlled environment for young patients requiring focus, calm and sensory relief during both therapy and online schooling sessions, which are often conducted in parallel. Equipped with light, sound and tactile therapy features, the unit is designed to support mental health rehabilitation by reducing external stimuli and creating a safe space for emotional reset.

The Day Unit is located directly opposite the former vocational school of the Stocznia Marynarki Wojennej – the legal predecessor of PGZ Stocznia Wojenna – highlighting the historic ties between the shipyard and the local community. The shipyard has been an integral part of Gdynia’s industrial landscape since 1926 and continues to actively engage in social, educational and health-related initiatives alongside its strategic defence operations.

Beata Koniarska, Member of the Management Board of PGZ Stocznia Wojenna, emphasised the significance of the gesture, especially on National Education Day:

- Today, on National Education Day, I had the honour, on behalf of PGZ Stocznia Wojenna, to hand over an acoustic booth to the Day Unit in Gdynia. This is a place that provides professional daily support to young people facing mental health challenges and it deserves dedicated assistance. The booth will offer a secure environment for focus, calm and participation in online education, which often runs alongside therapy. By combining light, sound and touch therapy, it will support the recovery process, giving young patients a moment of peace in a world full of stimuli. The location of the Unit, opposite the former shipyard school, makes this initiative even more meaningful. Since 1926, the shipyard has been part of Gdynia’s identity, and today it remains committed not only to defence contracts but also to supporting local educational, social and health initiatives.

Representatives of the Shipyard’s Management Board and the medical team of the Unit took part in the handover ceremony, underlining the shipyard’s long-term commitment to community-focused cooperation within the maritime industry.
