Ocean Winds awards Przembud Gdańsk contract for BC-Wind operations and maintenance base

Ocean Winds has selected Przembud Gdańsk S.A. as the general contractor for the construction of the operations and maintenance (O&M) base for the BC-Wind offshore wind farm. Located in Władysławowo on Poland’s Baltic coast, the facility will play a key role in supporting the long-term operation of the project while strengthening the domestic supply chain for the country’s rapidly developing offshore wind sector.

The decision reflects Ocean Winds’ ongoing commitment to increasing local content in Poland’s offshore wind industry and enhancing the participation of Polish companies across all stages of project development.

O&M base to serve as the project’s logistics hub

The O&M base will function as the main logistics and service centre for the BC-Wind offshore wind farm. The facility will be located approximately 37 kilometres from the wind farm site, with crew transfer vessel (CTV) journeys expected to take around 70 minutes.

The construction permit for the base was issued in January 2026. Construction works are scheduled to begin in June 2026, with completion planned for the end of 2027.

From the outset, our ambition has been not only to develop an offshore wind project but also to help build long-term industrial and operational capabilities across the entire sector, said Kacper Kostrzewa, Managing Director of Ocean Winds in Poland.

Long-term opportunities for local businesses

According to Ocean Winds, the O&M base will create around 30 permanent jobs during the operational phase of the project. The investment is also expected to generate long-term business opportunities for local companies providing infrastructure maintenance, logistics and technical support services.

BC-Wind: Ocean Winds’ first project in the Baltic Sea

BC-Wind is Ocean Winds’ first offshore wind project in the Baltic Sea. Located approximately 23 kilometres off the Polish coast, the wind farm will comprise 26 Siemens Gamesa turbines with a planned total installed capacity of up to 390 MW.

Once operational, the project is expected to generate enough renewable electricity to supply nearly 500,000 households annually.

Local content strategy gains momentum

BC-Wind is emerging as one of the most prominent examples of local content implementation within Poland’s offshore wind industry.

Several Polish companies are already involved in the project. The offshore substation is being built at a shipyard in Gdynia, while the onshore substation, grid connection infrastructure and cable manufacturing contracts have been awarded entirely to Polish suppliers.

Ocean Winds also plans to utilise both Polish installation ports during the construction phase, further reinforcing the role of the country’s maritime infrastructure in the development of offshore wind in the Baltic Sea.

The company has received several industry awards in 2026 in recognition of its contribution to the growth of Poland’s offshore wind sector and the development of a local supply chain.
