The facility is designed to accommodate both Sweden’s future submarine platforms and allied naval units, reflecting the country’s growing role within collective maritime defence structures.

According to the Navy Base Command, the development enhances Sweden’s ability to host and support a wide range of submarine systems in an efficient and operationally resilient manner.

- This is part of our core mission as an allied nation – to be able to receive and support multiple naval platforms effectively, said Commander Martin Göth, head of the naval base.

The investment further strengthens Karlskrona’s position as a key Baltic Sea hub for submarine operations and allied maritime logistics.
