Good energy returns to the beach in Ustka. Two weeks of free attractions from the PGE Foundation

It promises to be one of the most exciting summer spots on the entire Polish coast. From 30 July to 12 August, the beach at entrance no. 26 in Ustka will once again transform into the PGE Foundation's Good Energy Farm (Farma Dobrej Energii) - a buzzing seaside zone where residents and holidaymakers can enjoy sports tournaments, volleyball with the stars, creative workshops, consultations with specialists and a fascinating journey through the world of Baltic energy. Admission, as every year, is entirely free - just bring a good mood and the organisers will take care of the rest.

A resort that is becoming an offshore hub

Telling people in swimming trunks about the energy transition only seems a mischievous idea at first glance. In fact, it would be hard to find a better place than Ustka: just a few hundred metres from the beach windbreaks, an operations and maintenance base is taking shape, from which Baltic wind farms will one day be serviced - above all Baltica 2, developed jointly by PGE Group and Denmark's Ørsted. It is currently the largest offshore project by capacity in the Polish part of the Baltic: 107 turbines of 14 MW each, 1,498 MW in total, enough green electricity for roughly 2.5 million consumers. The turbines will stand at sea between Ustka and Choczewo, the power will come ashore via connection infrastructure near Choczewo, and the farm is scheduled to come online in 2027.

For Ustka itself, this means new jobs, more traffic in the port and a gradual change of character - from a seasonal resort into a year-round fixture on Pomerania's industrial map. The summer education zone on the beach is therefore more than holiday entertainment: it introduces residents and tourists to a neighbour who is just moving in.

Ewelina Jurasz, president of the PGE Foundation, explained that many Ustka residents are following the energy projects developing around them, and the foundation wants visiting tourists to understand offshore wind and Pomerania's role in Poland's energy transition as well. The foundation's mission, as she put it, is to present socially important topics in a way that is clear, attractive and accessible to all - and the Good Energy Farm does exactly that, combining learning with leisure.

What awaits beachgoers

The programme is arranged so that no two days of the fortnight look the same. In the opening days (30 July - 2 August), the beach belongs to the experts of PGE Baltica, who will use workshops, animations and prize quizzes to explain the journey electricity makes from a turbine standing in the sea to a socket in a seaside guesthouse. The first week of August adds creative and personal development sessions - from conversations about online kindness, through miniature forests sealed in jars, to relaxation workshops - with family tournaments and sports games running throughout.

The sporting highlight comes on the weekend of 7-9 August, when professional volleyball players take on amateurs selected in beach qualifiers, and fans can count on autographs and photos with the stars of Polish volleyball. The closing week brings confidence-building workshops, seaside crafts, a photo zone, a reading corner with books and deckchairs, and music from a DJ.

Health has its place too: first-aid training and sessions on safe behaviour by the water will run every day, and this edition puts a stronger emphasis on sun protection - dermatologists will be on site, offering free mole checks. The youngest visitors will be guided through the world of energy by the PGE Energy Crew: Solario, Turbino and Aquos, three mascots representing the sun, wind and water.

The Good Energy Farm will be open daily: Sunday to Thursday from 10:00 to 18:00, and until 20:00 on Fridays and Saturdays.
