Gdańsk secures PLN 16.5 million to expand Górki Zachodnie marina

Gdańsk has secured more than PLN 16.5 million in EU funding under the Funds for Pomerania 2021-2027 programme for the second phase of expanding the Górki Zachodnie yacht marina. Work is due to start in December 2026 and finish by October 2028, adding 52 new mooring berths and allowing the marina to accommodate vessels up to 18 metres long.

Second phase follows a completed first stage

The project continues the marina's first expansion phase, completed in 2023, which covered its northern section. The second phase covers the southern part and is meant to significantly increase capacity for both tourist traffic and vessels using the marina on a regular basis. The main element of the investment is extending the quay along the Wisła Śmiała channel by around 270 metres.

Facilities for sailors and equipment

Beyond the new berths, the project includes a fixed slipway, a racing ramp and a travel lift station, along with the purchase of the lift itself for launching and hauling out vessels. Plans also cover a storage yard for around 50 boats on land, an internal access road with parking, and two accessible toilets designed for people with disabilities. The investment further includes technical infrastructure such as water supply, sewage, power and telecommunications networks, an oily water tank, CCTV monitoring and Wi-Fi coverage.

Funding structure

The EU grant, awarded under Measure 6.11 "Tourism Infrastructure," will cover 85 percent of eligible costs. The total project value stands at PLN 28,445,545.80, with the city's own contribution amounting to PLN 11,888,004.80. Counting from the completed northern phase through to the southern phase's planned 2028 completion, the full expansion of the Górki Zachodnie marina will span more than five years.

The expanded marina is meant to strengthen Gdańsk's position as a Baltic sailing hub and improve conditions for both residents and visitors arriving by water.
