The launch represents a key milestone for both the yard and the regional maritime sector, as the project gathers pace after years of challenges.
- Today, the dock has taken on a real shape, and its first module has been safely launched, said Radosław Kowalczyk, CEO of Szczecin Shipyard Wulkan.
The floating dock, once completed, is expected to be the largest of its kind in the Baltic Sea, significantly expanding the yard’s repair and maintenance capabilities and enabling it to handle larger vessels.
The project involves multiple contractors and engineering teams, requiring tight coordination across production and logistics processes. Industry observers note that the successful launch reflects improved execution and project management at the yard.
The investment is seen as a strategic boost for Poland’s shipbuilding sector, particularly in West Pomerania, where efforts have been underway to modernize infrastructure and strengthen competitiveness in the European maritime market.
Szczecin has long been one of the region’s key shipbuilding centers, and the new dock is expected to reinforce its position as a major hub for maritime services in the Baltic.
